Meet THE JUDGE
Have you ever wondered who judges the annual Hawk Mountain Papers print contest? What does it take to be a judge? Well, we don't really know for sure but we are honored to have the multi-talented, personable, Jim Davis as the main judge, (among many others). Recently retired to pursue what many would consider more than full time self employment, (like there any other kind) Jim opened his first studio in 1962 while he was still in high school. That alone could classify him as qualified but no, there is more. He also did a stint at the Army War College archiving all their images digitally. Be sure to check out his blog at www.artreproservices.com . He purchased his first printer in 1998, (an HP2500). With many printers in between, including Epsons, he had now settled on a new Canon and LOVES its speed and color; however, misses the strait through paper path of the Epsons. | Before you send your print: Be sure to download the rules and the entry form. Jim has compiled a quick list of things for you to consider when choosing your print for entry into our print contest: Subject Matter: Is it unique and interesting? Our categories are as follows: Wedding, Portrait, Nude, Wildlife/Animals, Landscape/ Seascape/Floral, Artwork, (reproduction or computer generated). Composition: Does it flow well? Is it a snapshot or a work of art. Is the artist experienced? Is the image well thought through? Presentation: Is it the correct size, (8x10, 11x14, 16x20)? Sorry, no exceptions this year. Is the color correct? Is the image clean, (no scan lines or noise)? Please call the number(s) listed above if you have any questions about our contest.
